National Board for Certified Pastoral Counselors

Providing professional standars of practice to the service of Pastoral Counseling

Receive CEUs for Inservice

National Certified Pastoral Counselors are now eligible to receive Continuing Education Credits for in-service educational activities. This will make meeting Continuing Education requirements easier and less costly. There are just a few simple rules for the trainer/facilitator to follow.

  • The program must directly relate to the field of Pastoral Counseling, and must be geared toward individuals in that activity.
  • It must increase the participant’s skill or knowledge in the practice of Pastoral Counseling.
  • The in-service facilitator(s) or host facility must meet NBCPC Continuing Education Course requirements.
  • Speakers/Instructors must have at least a master’s degree in a field directly related to Pastoral Counseling or commensurate training that qualifies them to train master’s level professionals.
  • The hours must be used for training or education purposes only and not to fulfill any other requirements.

The NBCPC currently requires National Certified Pastoral Counselors (NCPC) to obtain 24 to 60 (depending upon certification level) Continuing Education Units every two years from an NBCPC approved education provider. NCPC-1 counselors may receive 100% of their required Continuing Education hours from approved in-service activities. Up to 50% of NCPC-2 or III CE requirements may be met with approved in-service hours.

We encourage any organization that is currently providing in-service training complete a CEU Provider application and return it to:
